In a world where opportunities often come and go, Hayson Tasher Sr., based in California, stands as a firm believer in one simple yet powerful principle: accountability defines success. His journey is not just about building a business, it’s about owning every decision, every missed chance, and every step forward.
Pointing the Finger in the Right Direction
For Hayson, accountability has always meant pointing the finger in the right direction at himself. He openly admits that while he has always shown up for others, there were times he failed to show up for himself. But instead of making excuses, he chose reflection over blame.
One defining moment came in the late 1990s when he missed an opportunity to be part of a film starring Nicolas Cage, 8 Millimeter. Late nights and missed commitments cost him the role. When asked who he blamed, his answer was simple: “Myself.”
That moment became a cornerstone of his philosophy, no matter the outcome, accountability remains non-negotiable.
A Journey Shaped by Missed Chances and Growth
Hayson’s career journey is deeply rooted in lessons learned the hard way. A couple of years ago, he was invited by his late friend “COOP” (may he rest in peace) and producer Mike T. Pearson (Tyson) to be part of the set of All American, a popular television program on the CW network in Los Angeles.
However, history repeated itself, procrastination led to another missed opportunity. But this time, Hayson was in a different phase of life. Instead of dwelling on regret, he was investing in himself and laying the foundation for something bigger: OLDPGS (Old Patrolman Guard Services).
Building OLDPGS: From Employee to Entrepreneur
The idea for OLDPGS came from a realization that changed everything, Hayson had acquired more licenses and permits than the company he was working for. He had outgrown his role.
Determined to take control, he began investing in classes and certifications while opportunities were still within reach. However, the journey wasn’t smooth. A major setback occurred when the security firm he worked for failed to complete the necessary paperwork required for state approval, forcing Hayson to start over while pursuing his own licenses.
Despite the delay, persistence paid off. In 2018, OLDPGS officially became a licensed security firm, marking a major milestone in his entrepreneurial journey.
A Business Built on Trust and Responsibility
OLDPGS operates with a clear mission: “Security you can count on… Dedicated to a safe and secure environment.” The company offers a wide range of services, including:
- Armed and unarmed uniformed guards
- Alarm response
- Free consulting
- SB1626 school security
- Investigations
- 24/7 security details
What sets Hayson apart is his hands-on approach. Unlike many business owners who step away from fieldwork, he continues to stand post on security details while actively managing operations alongside his team and affiliates.
Learning from Industry Giants
Hayson acknowledges the legacy of pioneers like the Pinkerton Detective Agency and Wells Fargo, recognizing their role in shaping the security and protection industry in the United States. For him, giving credit where it’s due is just another form of accountability.
Inspiring Others Through Action
At the core of Hayson’s message is a simple truth: opportunity is everywhere, but action is everything. He believes that nothing comes from inaction: “Nothing from nothing leaves nothing.”
His advice is direct and unapologetic: take accountability for your life, your vision, and your progress. No one else will do it for you.
A Personal Philosophy: Bet on Yourself
Hayson’s life lesson is grounded in self-reliance. He doesn’t believe in luck or shortcuts. In fact, he openly shares that he doesn’t even play the lottery because he doesn’t expect to win.
Instead, he chooses a different kind of gamble, betting on himself. According to him, the best plan he ever made was investing in his own growth, skills, and vision.
Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Hayson has ambitious plans for expansion. His vision includes establishing security training centers and launching the “OLD PATROLMAN BRAND,” featuring products such as firearms, batons, pepper spray, and retail locations.
With a strong foundation and an unwavering commitment to accountability, Hayson Tasher Sr. is not just building a business, he’s building a legacy
